HTC One M9 renders

HTC is doing its very best to keep the One M9 under wraps, but new renders reveal what could be in store for the expected March 1 launch.

Prolific ex-leaker Evleaks popped out of retirement today (‘old habits die hard’, he says) to post what looks to be the HTC One M9, and its M9 Plus sibling, albeit in render form.

It’s worth noting that this should most definitely be taken with a pinch of salt, especially as recent rumours point to HTC purposefully attempting to throw leakers off with fake devices.

So what’s noteworthy with the latest renders? Well for starters, there’s two devices, one of which is clearly toting a more phablet-esque form factor.

This gels with previous rumours of HTC gearing up to release both a HTC One M9, as well as a HTC One M9 Plus variant.

What’s also interesting is that the Plus seems to be rocking a fingerprint sensor that sits flush with the device.

That last bit is important, because it means that unlike Samsung’s and Apple’s fingerprint sensors, this one wouldn’t double up as a home button.

Other things to note the device looks to be a sporting a much more svelte profile than its One M8 predecessor, and there’s a big old camera stuck in the middle of the upper front bezel.

The front-firing BoomSound speakers also make an appearance, although they’re much more subtly placed on the very edge of the device this time around.

Otherwise, it’s still clearly running with HTC’s grey, metallic aesthetic approach that we’ve seen from previous handsets, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
