HTC has reportedly turned to subterfuge and deception to conceal the HTC One M9 Hima ahead of its likely March 1 unveiling.
You can tell that the HTC One M9 Hima launch is imminent, because the number of photo leaks has spiked in recent weeks as HTC sends out near-final hardware to its partners.
But have those eager leakers been duped? According to former leak superstar Evan Blass, yes they have.
Over on HTC Source, Blass claims that HTC has been sending out its One M9 test handsets in a form other than final. In fact, these leaked handsets contain the innards of the M9 wrapped up in a completely different case.
It's a technique HTC employed with the HTC One M7, though less than effectively.
This would explain why the leaks up to now have shown a device that's very similar to the HTC One M8 in design, when all of HTC's promises have been of something quite different.

It's claimed that the final phone will indeed be quite different to the M8, with an edge-to-edge display and BoomSound speakers pushed to the top and bottom edges. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera will apparently resemble that of the HTC Desire Eye - large and centrally mounted.
With HTC's March 1 pre-MWC 2015 launch event just over a month away, we'd be surprised if HTC manages to keep the HTC One M9 Hima completely under wraps. But we applaud the effort.
