Sony's next flagship phone, the Xperia Z4, may not be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in March after all.
Many had been expecting Sony to turn up to MWC 2015 with a new high-end smartphone in tow, but that may not turn out to be the case.
That's the claim put forth by Sony fan website Xperia Blog. According to its calculations, everything suggests that Sony is aiming for a summer release for its next big phone.
The first hint that Sony's typical MWC launch plans perhaps weren't set to be repeated this year came back in December, when an interesting piece of information emerged from the catastrophic Sony hack.
Sony's product pitch for the upcoming Bond movie was among the details spilled, and in that pitch was the claim that the "Xperia Z Fourth Generation" would launch in May or November of 2015.
The report also points to the fact that we haven't seen any leaks of the Z4 itself. With MWC almost a month a way, it's pretty hard to believe that Sony has tightened things up that effectively.

With Sony recently announcing a purple Sony Xperia Z3, it's quite possible that the company will stick with its current flagship for a few more months, and use MWC 2015 to launch a mid-range handset instead.
Of course, it's not like Sony has been slack with its mobile efforts in recent times. From the original Sony Xperia Z through to the current Sony Xperia Z3 (pictured), the company has kept up an exhausting six month refresh cycle on its flagship phone range.
