Smartphone manufacturer Huawei has revealed it has no plans to launch a Windows 10 powered handset, suggesting the software is too restrictive.
According to the Chinese phone maker, Microsoft’s mobile platform does not allow enough in ways of customisation options, meaning the manufacturer is unable to differentiate its Windows powered products from those of its rivals.
“In the phone part there is no plan [to launch a Windows 10 device],” Shao Yang, Chief Marketing Officer for Huawei’s devices division stated.
He added: “For us, Window’s biggest problem is that it is not very easy to have the DIY [experience] on the Windows system.
“If you look at all the Windows phones, they are all very similar. It is very hard for us to differentiate a Huawei Windows Phone to other Windows phones.
“That’s why we think Android is a better choice for us.”
Although ruling out plans for Windows 10 smartphones, Huawei’s device head has suggested the company might not shun Microsoft’s latest OS completely.
“There are some possibilities on the pad front,” Yang stated.

Although failing to go into detail on the company’s potential Windows 10 tablet offerings, he suggested a potential Surface Pro 3 challenger would be an easier access point into manufacturing Windows 10 devices.
Despite failing to put a timeframe on such a release, Yang also suggested that a dual-boot device – running both Android and Windows 10 – could be a possibility to bringing the company’s Windows efforts back.
