Google Nexus 5 unveiling set for 6pm, already given tear down

The Google Nexus 5 unveiling will be held at 6pm GMT this evening, 11am Pacific time, latest reports have suggested as the phone is prematurely given the tear down treatment.

With a raft of new Google Nexus 5 leaks having surfaced today pointing to an imminent unveiling, industry insiders are now claiming the phone will officially enter the realms of reality at 6pm this evening.

"After speaking with no less than five different sources with knowledge of the matter, I am ready to confirm that the LG-made Nexus 5 should be unveiled later on today, along with Android 4.4 KitKat,” Artem Russakovskii over at Android Police has claimed.

With retailers having teased stock of the phone and with a mass of hands-on Google Nexus 5 images having hit the web today, an official launch this evening is looking increasingly likely.

Further teasing an imminent Google Nexus 5 unveiling, a range of claimed Google Nexus 5 tear down images have leaked, offering yet more details on the phone’s spec.

According to the latest leaks, the Google Nexus 5 features list will see a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD line up alongside a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with optical image stabilisation.

As well as becoming the first device to come running the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the phone will reportedly host a 2300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery as well as 4G connectivity options, a feature missing from last year’s Google Nexus 4 offering.
