Google’s next flagship Android smartphone, the Google Nexus 5, looks set to launch on November 1 in both black and white, according to a recent tip.
Recent days have seen a number of claims relating to the Google Nexus 5 launch date, with October 31 seeming likely.
Now arch tipster @evleaks has posted the above picture of a white-backed Nexus 5 on their Twitter account. It reveals the Nexus 5 we’ve all come to know and love through a thousand leaked snaps (including from Google itself), but with a pure white rear panel. The front remains black.
The accompanying text helpfully confirms that this is “In white,” before mentioning a date of “11/1.” Going by the somewhat counter-intuitive American date system, this would point to November 1.
Of course, there’s still the question of whether this means that the Nexus 5 will be unveiled on November 1 or will actually be made available on this date.
Its predecessor, the Google Nexus 4, was announced on October 29 last year, so we strongly expect Google to make some kind of announcement this week.
The Google Nexus 5 is expected to feature a 4.95-inch 1080p LCD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, a choice of 16 or 32GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel camera, and 4G LTE connectivity.
It will also be the first device to run on Android 4.4 KitKat, the next iteration of Google’s mobile OS.
