Titanfall will be an Xbox One exclusive forever, with the game never coming to PS4 despite earlier intentions.
EA Games has confirmed that there will never be a PS4 version of Titanfall, as the game is now a permanent Xbox One exclusive.
Speaking during the EA Games earnings call, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President Blake Jorgensen announced the Titanfall exclusivity.
“In the case of Titanfall, it’s a brand-new IP, and it’s exclusive only, for the life of the title, on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and PCs”, announced Blake during the earnings call.
Luckily for PC gamers, Titanfall will still be making the transition to the Windows desktop platform, but future PS4 gamers won’t be getting access.
Vince Zampella, founder of Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment, later confirmed the Xbox exclusivity on Twitter, expressing some sadness and regret at the publishers decision with a well-placed emoticon
“Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(” tweeted Zampella.
Titanfall is due to launch in March next year and is a huge, online only FPS. You’ll get the choice whether to play as a free-running pilot or inside the mech-style walkers known as Titans.
The game has been used to promote the Xbox One ahead of its November 22 release date, as well as being used to highlight the console is for gamers after all in the latest Xbox One ad.
Microsoft has been marketing the Xbox One as the “all-in-one” entertainment console and put particular emphasis on the console’s TV integration, Kinect peripheral, HMDI in/out port and new UI features at the launch event.
Other Xbox One launch titles include: Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Ryse: Son of Rome.
