The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are now compatible with the O2 4G network following an initial delay.
O2 customers can now use the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S on the 4G network after updating the carrier settings on their device.
When the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S were unveiled on September 10, O2 said the smartphones wouldn’t be compatible with its newly launched 4G network for a number of weeks.
The UK network provider said it had to wait for Apple to send over the necessary settings for the duo of new iPhones to run on its 4G network.
O2 users may have noticed a notification on their iPhone stating that new carrier settings are available today or over the weekend. These new settings will enable all iPhones to support the 800mHz O2 4G band.
Launched on August 29, the O2 4G network currently covers London, Leicester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Sheffield and Nottingham. O2 will be adding coverage for Edinburgh, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool by the end of the year.
The bubble-themed UK network provider is also offering new iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S customers £5 off their next bill as compensation for the delay.
As the flagship model of the duo, the iPhone 5S has the same metal design as the iPhone 5 but introduces a raft of new specs and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
The iPhone 5S introduces a quad-core A7 processor, updates the 8-megapixel rear camera and now features a dual LED TrueTone flash.
To complement the flagship model, Apple also revised the iPhone 5 in the form of the plastic-bodied, slightly cheaper iPhone 5C.
Available in a range of five vibrant hues, the iPhone 5C is basically a plastic clad iPhone 5, with the front camera given an update to a new FaceTime HD camera.
