FIFA 14 has taken top honours in the UK All Format Gaming chart, dethroning blockbuster hit GTA 5 after just one week in pole position.
Following last Friday’s September 27 FIFA 14 release date, the annual instalment of the much loved football sim has claimed top spot in the UK’s gaming sales chart, with day one sales knocking GTA 5 off top spot. Although topping charts for the week ending September 28, FIFA 14 sales were down 24 per cent on week one FIFA 13 sales last year.
With GTA 5 sales having generated $1 billion globally during the game’s first three days on sale, publisher Rockstar has seen an 83 per cent drop in week-on-week sales to see the high profile game slip to second. Despite the drop in sales, GTA 5’s weekly sales still see it record the 18th highest weekly sales of any game in history.
Highlighting EA’s dominance on the football scene, bitter rival PES 2014 has dropped to fourth in the weekly sales chart, one place behind a resurgent Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.
With the PS3 exclusive The Last of US holding firm in fifth, the remainder of the week’s top ten is a familiar sight, with the figurine incorporating Disney Infinity lining up in sixth ahead of seventh placed Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
While Saints Row 4 has dropped to eighth, Diablo 3 and Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends have rounded out the UK All Format Gaming Chart top ten in spots nine and ten respectively.
