Sony could be launching a Sony Xperia Z1 mini with specs and the first image of the device emerging online.
Specs for the Sony Xperia Z1 mini have leaked online, suggesting Sony will retain the strong camera focus but lower the specs of other features.
Originally spotted in a listing for the Sony Honami mini before the Sony Xperia Z1 was officially unveiled at IFA 2013, the Xperia Z1 mini could pack very similar specs to its flagship partner.
From the looks of the specs sheet spotted by Xperia blog, the Xperia Z1 mini should have to same 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM as the Z1. It will also retain the 20.7-megapixel G Lens camera in the rear of the device.
Both the Z1 and the Z1 mini will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but the Xperia Z1 mini will downsize its screen to a 4.3-inch offering with a 1280 x 720p HD resolution.
Rather than the 3000mAh battery of its counterpart, it seems the Xperia Z1 mini will have a 2300mAh offering. The minimum internal storage is dropped from 32GB to 16GB as well.
What is slightly odd is that the dimensions of the Sony Xperia Z1 make it out to be quite a large device, despite its smaller screen. It measures up at 127 x 64.9 x 9.4mm, which is smaller than the Xperia Z1 at 144 x 74 x 8.5mm but quite chunky and large in comparison to other mini devices like the Galaxy S4 mini at 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9mm.
Those dimensions may well mean that the Sony Xperia Z1 mini has fairly large bezels around its 4.3-inch screen but that could be to accommodate the powerful rear camera tech.
Of course, seeing as Sony has yet to offer any official details on the Xperia Z1 mini you’ll have to take all the specs with a pinch of salt.
