The PS4 vs Xbox One battle continues
With the next-gen console battle about to heat up, a new consumer survey has found that the PS4 is more popular than the Xbox One.
With the Xbox One release date set for November 22 and the UK PS4 release date pencilled in for just seven days later on November 29, the next-gen console wars are expected to be a closely disputed between the two tech giants. Now, however, a poll of US citizens by Reuters has found that the PS4 is topping most Christmas wish lists.
Based on a survey of 1,297 consumers polled last week, 26 per cent stated they intended to by a PS4 when available while just 15 per cent declared their plans to snap up an Xbox One.
“Though based on a limited sample, the results potentially point to a lopsided battle during the crucial holiday season,” Reuters said of its findings.
According to the findings, the PS4 is proving even more popular with the under 40s, with 41 per cent of the younger participants suggesting the Sony console is on their to buy list compared with just 27 per cent looking to purchase the Microsoft gamers.
One 26 year old gamer included in the poll stated that he was looking to opt for the Sony console as: “The PlayStation 4 is for both hardcore and casual gamers.”
Addressing the fact that Microsoft had previously stated the Xbox One would not allow for pre-owed titles or game borrowing, he added that his decision had been helped as “Microsoft couldn’t make up their mind while Sony hadn’t wavered from the beginning.”
Although the Xbox One will hit UK stores a week before its leading rival, the Microsoft branded machine will cost a full £80 more. While the Xbox One price has been confirmed as £429, the PS4 price has been set at just £349.
Adding further backing to suggestions that the PS4 will be more popular than the Xbox One, Sony announced early last month that it already clocked up more than one million PS4 pre-orders.
