On the anniversary of Steve Jobs’ death, current Apple CEO Tim Cook has led the company in remembering its co-founder and former talismanic leader.
With today, October 5th, marking the two year anniversary of the passing of Steve Jobs, his replacement in leading the world’s biggest company has helped the company remember the man who brought the world the likes of the iPod, iPhone and iPad.
In a note to all Apple employees yesterday, Cook suggested that Apple “will continue to honour his memory by dedicating ourselves to the work he loved so much.”
The internal note, uncovered and published by 9to5Mac read: “Team, Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of Steve’s death. I hope everyone will reflect on what he meant to all of us and to the world. Steve was an amazing human being and left the world a better place.”
Cook added: “I think of him often and find enormous strength in memories of his friendship, vision and leadership. He left behind a company that only he could have built and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
“We will continue to honour his memory by dedicating ourselves to the work he loved so much. There is no higher tribute to his memory. I know that he would be proud of all of you. Best, Tim.”
Offering further remembrance of his former boss, Cook today Tweeted: “Second anniversary of Steve's death. Going on a long hike today and reflecting on his friendship and all the dents he made in the universe.”
Although Steve Jobs often proved a controversial figure, his effect in re-establishing Apple as a leader of the tech scene helped take the company from the edge of ruin to become the most valuable in the world. Having repeatedly helped redefine the expectations of the industry, Jobs has widely been regarded by his peers as a visionary, an innovator and a figure that will be remembered for changing the world.
