Award-winning BBC Radio DJ Zane Lowe has revealed he is to quit his longstanding position at the broadcaster in order to join Apple’s music division.
Renowned for discovering and promoting little known and emerging talent, Lowe has worked at BBC Radio 1 for the past 12 years.
According to the BBC: “The 41-year-old DJ, who joined the network in 2003, is moving to the US to work at Apple.”
Although the exact nature of Lowe’s new role is currently unclear, it has been announced he is to leave for the Cupertino-based company following his final broadcast on March 5.
With Apple believed to be working on a relaunch of the recently acquired Beats Music streaming service, it has been suggested Lowe will take up a role curating content and playlists for the Spotify rival.

Having helped launch the careers of artists such as Ed Sheeran and the Arctic Monkys, it is likely Lowe will work alongside music moguls Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre at Apple after they joined the iPhone 6 maker in last year’s $3.2 billion Beats takeover.
"I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship,” Lowe stated. "The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country's best music fans."
