A Nexus 5 has been spotted on Geekbench running the unreleased Android 5.2 OS.
This comes shortly after we earlier reported on a similar Geekbench report where a Nexus 5 was running the also unconfirmed Android 5.1 OS.
What’s more, the Android 5.2-toting Nexus 5 scored slightly higher for single-core and multi-core performance on the test than the Android 5.1 handset (via PhoneArena).
This could mean the Android 5.2 update brings some tangible updates to device performance, although it could of course just be evidence of Geekbench’s margin of error.

The news that Android 5.2 is in testing is very interesting, as we only yesterday saw the very first handsets running Android 5.1.
What’s more, Google allegedly told the smartphone OEMs to keep the Android 5.1 OS under wraps, which suggests it’s not quite ready to unveil the update just yet.
Android 5.2, however, has not been seen elsewhere, which suggests this is a Google test unit.
This is lent further credence by the fact that the Nexus 5 is one of Google’s own devices, and would likely be amongst the first handsets chosen to model the new software update.
It’s not yet clear what updates Android 5.2 will bring, but it likely won’t land on handsets any time soon considering 5.1 is only just making it to handsets.
It’s also worth noting that just 1.6 per cent of all Android smartphones run Lollipop globally, so many users won’t see Android 5.2 for a very long time.
