The Sony Xperia E4, announced by the firm last week, can now be pre-ordered in the UK.

The low-cost handset will go on sale next month for £99.99 with the Japanese giant hoping it’ll be a match for popular value Android devices like the Moto E.

Now these seeking to get first dibs on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat device can pre-order via the third-party Clove store in the UK.

The device follows on from last year’s Sony Xperia E3, and is the company’s first smartphone launch of 2014.

The 4G handset offers an improved 5-inch 960 x 540 IPS display, up to two-days of battery life courtesy of a 2300mAh cell.

There’s a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor doing the heavy lifting, with 1GB of RAM. There’s 8GB available as built-in store which can be boosted by a microSD slot.

Budget buyers will benefit from a 5-megapixel camera on the rear or a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper, while the Xperia E4 itself is available in black or white.

Sony is also including some of its more premium design language, with a stainless steel camera ring and the diamond-cut aluminium power button.

Sony hasn’t elaborated on the expected release date, but Clove is claiming (via SlashGear) it’ll arrive in late March.

The Xperia E4 is likely to get a full coming-out party at MWC 2015, which kick-starts on March 1 so we’re likely to learn more in Barcelona.
