The Xbox One's long awaited screenshot feature has entered the preview phase as part of the March update.
Earlier in February, Microsoft's Phil Spencer announced that a screenshot feature for the Xbox One was up and running and nearing release.
Now Major Nelson has taken to his blog to announce that this screenshot feature is available to try out through the Xbox One preview program.
This screenshot feature will form a part of the Xbox One March system update, which is rolling out early to members of the preview program now. Microsoft has released a video to outline these new features, with a particular focus on how the screenshot function will operate.
It works by double tapping the Xbox button to bring up the snap centre screen, then pressing Y to save screenshot (rather than the usual X to record). The screenshot itself is actually taken when you double-press the Xbox button - the Y button simply stores this.
Microsoft is updating the upload app that currently handles your captured footage to also incorporate these new screenshots, so sharing your captured images will be a familiar experience. From here, you can even opt to select your screenshot as your background.

Other additions in the March update include suggested friends, which will - you guessed it - suggest people on Xbox Live you might know (or want to know), much as a social network does. To make these new connections easier, you can also opt to share your full name with everyone on Xbox Live.
The ability to tweak the level of tile transparency is also coming, as is the ability to report spam.
As the name suggests, you can expect the March update to roll out to all Xbox One users at the beginning of March.
