Naughty Dog has announced that the release date for Uncharted 4, Sony's biggest PS4 exclusive to date, has slipped into 2016.
The Uncharted series is arguably Sony's biggest gaming IP thanks to the phenomenal critical and commercial success of the first three action-adventure games on PS3 (with Uncharted 2 being the stand-out pick).
Understandably, Sony has been eager to get its star player over to its current console, so the December 2015 release date for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - the climactic chapter in the franchise - already seemed like quite a wait.
Now, Neil Druckmann of developer Naughty Dog has taken to the official PlayStation blog to reveal that Uncharted 4 has been pushed back to Spring 2016. Yep, it's now a good year away.
"Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned," explains Druckmann.
"This game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for," he continues.

Druckmann concedes that moving the release date back was a "difficult choice," but that the extra few months of development "will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title."
The company will be revealing more about the closing chapter of Nathan Drake's story over the coming year, he confirmed. The big tease.
Perhaps this delay wouldn't have been such a big deal if there wasn't a perceived dearth of compelling triple-A exclusives on Sony's top-selling console.
