The red pill or the blue pill?
If you want an alternative to the selfie stick, Podo is for you. It's a camera that sticks to walls, so you can take snaps of yourself in a more socially acceptable manner.
Unlike a selfie stick, it has its own optics, so you don't use the snapper on your phone. It takes 8-megapixel stills, and records video in 720p HD at 30 frames per second. Sync it to your phone over Bluetooth, and it'll send the snaps to your mobile, ready to be edited, emailed, printed, or shared on social media.
It will stick to almost any flat surface thanks to a washable, re-stickable pad. There's also a strong magnet, which will help it stick to metal objects like flag poles. It will stick to vertical surfaces like walls, and horizontal surfaces like tables. It will stay put even in a strong wind.
It doesn't leave any unsightly marks on the surface. To reuse the pad, just wipe it with water.
When not in use, the pad folds away, so it won't stick to the inside of your pocket while you're carrying it.

You can see a preview of your snap on your phone's screen, so you can be sure everyone is in frame before you shoot. You can set a flash if the light is a bit dim, or a timer if you need a few seconds to compose yourself. Then take the shot.
It's bright and colourful, and anything that does away with selfie sticks gets our vote. It's passed its funding goal on Kickstarter, and will cost $89 when it ships in August.
