Motorola has expanded its Moto Maker user customisation program to include the Moto 360 smartwatch.

As first reported last month, the company is now allowing to build their own Android Wear smartwatch.

Buyers have the opportunity to choose their own strap, casing and face for the round-faced watch with the total number of physical combinations of strap and face maxing out at 27.

Moto is offering Moto Makers nine bands in leather and metal iterations while there are three casings finishes to choose from; dark metal, light metal and champagne gold.

The Moto 360 with a leather band retains its price point of £199/$250, while upgrading to a champagne gold finish will cost £50/$50 more. A metal strap is £30/$30 extra.

Moto’s move comes in the immediate aftermath of the Apple Watch event on Monday in San Francisco.

Apple formally announced the device’s pricing and availability with 34 possible combinations available, starting at £299 and ranging all the way up to a whopping £8,000 for the Apple Watch Edition.

The roll out of Moto Maker for the Moto 360 follows a spat between the two companies over the design options afforded to users.

Apple’s Jony Ive claimed Moto had ‘abdicated’ its responsibilities as designers by allowing buyers to customise the look and feel of the Moto X smartphone.
