Microsoft has launched the March update for its Xbox One games console.

The company's monthly roll out of major additions to the core Xbox One experience seems set to continue, with another generous bundle of improvements.

Xbox spokesman and director of programming for Xbox Live, Major Nelson, has confirmed that the March update is rolling out now on his blog.

Undoubtedly the biggest addition here is the long anticipated screenshot function. Double tap the Xbox button, and you'll see a new option to capture what's on screen at the present time by pressing Y.

The upload app also gets an update to incorporate these screenshots, enabling the speedy sharing of your best moments and the setting of screenshots as your background.

Microsoft has also improved the friend discovery aspect of Xbox Live in the March update, with a new suggestion system for people you might know on the gaming service. Related to finding new friends, you can also share your real name now to aid such discovery.

Party chat has been enhanced, with an individual mic status indicator attributed to every participant.

Xbox Live's personalisation element has also been enhanced in the March update, with the ability to tweak the tile transparency if you want your background image to really shine through.

Finally, there are a couple of minor additions such as the ability to opt in to anonymously sharing voice search data for the improvement of the service, as well as the ability to report spam in the Messages app.
