Leading note-taking service Evernote has announced that it will be releasing an Apple Watch app for the device's April 24 launch.

In the wake of Apple's big smartwatch reveal, we're expecting every major app developer to offer a pint-sized version of their smartphone app.

Some of these are more worthy of note than others, however, and one of those deserving of mention is Evernote. The leading note-taking app will be available for Apple Watch on release day.

Fortunately, the Evernote team seems to get the whole smartwatch thing. "We’ve long believed that wearable technology isn’t about miniaturising apps to a new platform, it’s about rethinking apps to be quick and glanceable," reads a post on the official Evernote blog.

"An app on a watch doesn’t replace an app on the phone, it complements it. That’s how Apple Watch is designed, and it’s exactly what Evernote for Apple Watch is all about."

As such, the Apple Watch version of Evernote will work seamlessly with the iPhone version, allowing you to dictate notes, perform searches, and see recent content on your watch. You'll also be able to set reminders and check items off your list from your wrist.

Start reading a note on your Apple Watch, and you'll be able to take over where you left off on your iPhone with a swipe of the lockscreen.

Of course, it's worth noting that all of this functionality is present in the Android Wear version of Evernote, which is on the Google Play Store right now.
