Yahoo has launched a new Yahoo Weather app that it claims will make checking the forecast an absolute joy.

The new Yahoo Weather Android app introduces a more beautiful way to check the weather than any other app, or so claims Yahoo.

“Checking the weather should be beautiful, intuitive and personalised, no matter where you are or what device you’re using,” said Marco Wirasinghe, Director of Mobile Products at Yahoo. “That’s why we’re excited to share that today, we’re releasing a brand new Yahoo! Weather Android app for users worldwide.”

Available to use as an Android widget on the home screen, the Yahoo Weather app previously only displayed a four day forecast. This has now been expanded to 5 or 10 days as well as a 24 hour weather prediction.

“The new Yahoo! Weather Android app showcases the new beautiful design you’ve been waiting for. We’ve bought gorgeous Flickr photos of locations by weather and by time of day to the front of our experience.”

The Android app update also brings with it information on precipitation, wind and pressure and moonphases, UV patterns on an interactive map. There are sunrise and sunset times for the romantics too.

City suggestions can be pulled from friends and the user’s listed interest as well, if they decide to sign in via Yahoo.

The Yahoo Weather Android app is available to download now from the Google Play store, for smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
