Nokia Lumia 625 available in the UK August 28

Nokia has announced that the Nokia Lumia 625 will be available in the UK from August 28, offering a 4G Windows Phone at an affordable price.

The largest screen offering currently provided by Nokia, the Nokia Lumia 625 has a 4.7-inch 800 x 480p resolution display and a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 512MB of RAM.

Packing Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity, it will be one of the cheapest phones to run on the superfast mobile broadband.

“The Nokia Lumia 625 will make a great and highly affordable 4G addition to Vodafone’s range of Windows Phones,” said Dee Kaul, Director of Terminals for Vodafone UK and Ireland.

With a 5-megapixel camera in the rear and a 640 x 480p capture camera up front, the Nokia Lumia 625 isn’t a powerhouse Windows Phone 8 device, but certainly seems to offer enough for the low end price range.

“4G is incredibly important for the future of mobile in the UK, and EE is at the forefront,” said Nicold Shenton, Head of Devices at EE. “With the new Lumia 625, Nokia is helping to bring even more affordable, quality 4G devices to the market which will ensure 4G experiences are available to a broader audience.”

Priced at £179 on a PAYG contract or from £21 on contract, the Nokia Lumia 625 goes on sale Wednesday August 28 through EE, O2, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u.

“At Carphone Warehouse we are aiming to offer the broadest range of 4G devices. Nokia is leading the 4G device portfolio already with a number of innovative middle and high end devices,” said Graham Stapleton, Carphone Warehouse CEO. “With the Nokia Lumia 625 we see them move to an even more affordable price point with a 4.7” Super sensitive Display, optimised for viewing media on the go. This will be the most affordable 4G smartphone in our range at launch.”

Additional coloured shells for the Nokia Lumia 625 can also be purchased, with anyone purchasing a black or white handset offered a free orange, yellow or green shell for free at launch for a limited time.
