New Motorola Moto G 2 launched with 5-inch display

The New Motorola Moto G 2 has been launched with a larger 5-inch display and updated specs.

Following on from the successful Motorola Moto G launched earlier this year, the second edition increases the screen size but retains the 720p HD resolution.

New Motorola Moto G 2 Features

The New Moto G comes with a 5-inch 720 x 1080p HD display running Android 4.4 KitKat. This ups the original’s screen size of 4.5-inches but retains the 720p HD resolution, meaning the image density drops from 329ppi to 294ppi.

Motorola has confirmed the new Moto G will get the Android L upgrade as soon as it becomes available.

It runs on the same 1.2Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 305 GPU as its predecessor.

Unlike the original though, it comes with a microSD card slot with support for cards up to 32GB. You can choose from 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, in either single or dual-SIM variants.

There’s an enhanced 8-megapixel camera in the rear with autofocus and an f2.4 aperture. That’s upgraded the original’s 5-megapixel main snapper.

The front-facing camera is now 2-megapixels rather than 1.2-megapixels as well.

Despite the larger screen, Motorola has managed to slim down the new Moto G to 11mm at its thickest point. It has got a little heavier though at 149g up from the original’s 143g.

Sadly, you won’t get any 4G connectivity with the new Moto G 2, unlike the recently released Moto G 4G. You’ll only get 3G with the latest model.

New Motorola Moto G 2 Release Date and Price

It is available today, September 5 in Black and White from Amazon. It retails from £144.99.

If you’re looking to customise the appearance of your new Moto G 2, there’s a range of Motorola Shells coming out in October.
