LG G Watch R P-OLED display detailed

LG has revealed key details concerning the unique round OLED display on its forthcoming LG G Watch R.

Not only did the Korean company announce the LG G Watch R a week ahead of its IFA 'unveiling,' it's also gone into considerable detail on the fashion-focused smartwatch's round OLED screen.

Clearly one for spoilers, LG has announced that it has begun mass production of the "world’s first circular plastic OLED display."

As previously established, this P-OLED screen will be a 1.3-inch 320 x 320 "perfectly round" screen, allowing it to have a "full watch face" - unlike the somewhat squashed Motorola Moto 360.

We also learn that the G Watch R's screen will be less than 0.6mm thick, which will help keep the wrist-mounted device's overall bulk down.

LG also revealed that it boasts a 100 percent colour gamut, and that it attains a 300nit peak luminescence and unlimited contrast ratio.

The LG G Watch R's P-OLED display will also feature a Power Save Mode, which will allow the screen to remain active and visible at all times. It will also be able to "retain the same resolution – even without a power supply – from the power integrated circuit."

While it feels like we've already seen much of what the LG G Watch R has to offer, we're still looking forward to going hands-on at IFA 2014 over the coming days.
