As consumer drones continue to rise in prominence, manufacturer Parrot has spoken out on the restrictions being imposed on the flying machines.
While to many, drones are nothing more than futuristic toys, to others they pose serious security and privacy threats given their onboard cameras and largely unrestricted flight zones.
According to Parrot Founder and CEO, Henri Seydoux, however, these regulations and restrictions, which the Civil Aviation Authority has described as ‘still evolving’, will not effect the growth of the emerging market.
“The drones, like everything, have negative aspects and positive aspects,” Seydoux said speaking with TrustedReviews recently. “They will mostly be positive for a lot of reasons and many users.”
He added: “What does not have negative aspects? I’m sure your grandmother remembers when the first cars went into London and everyone went crazy.”
Looking to the future development of the drone market, Seydoux, who created the hugely successful Parrot Beebop Drone, stated: “There is still a lot of development and progress to be made with the drones.
“We have multiple drones and we will continue to merge into these professional drones and more for the casual market.
“I could not anticipate how big and popular the drone market would become.”

Drone restrictions have been a hot topic in recent months, with the flying machines coming in for some serious negative press.
While back in December a commercial airliner had a near miss with a drone around Heathrow airport, last week the Transport Ministry in Thailand announced it was seeking to ban all unlicensed drone flights.
While Parrot helped push the drone market into mainstream consumer attention, a number of rival manufacturers have jumped onto the bandwagon in recent years. The flying machines have now become big business in filming projects.
