The BBC has launched its Doctor Who coding game for iOS, Android tablets with the aim of helping children improve their programming skills.

The Doctor and The Dalek is voiced by Peter Capaldi now has four new levels which can be accessed from iOS, Android and Amazon app stores and arrives following a strong response to the online-only version.

The game is part of BBC’s Make It Digital initiative, which aims to inspire young people to become creative with digital technology by introducing them to fundamental coding principles.

The new levels bring the free game to its conclusion. Players must solve a series of coding puzzles, linked to the raw computing curriculum in order to help the Doctor save the day.

Jo Pearce, the executive producer of BBC Doctor Who Interactive said: “The Doctor and the Dalek has had a great response from the children, parents and teachers.

“The overriding request was for a tablet version. The new levels with our updated resources from BBC Learning allow children to take their skills a little further… and help the Doctor save the universe.”
