HTC is cancelling the Hima Ace, instead launching a HTC Desire A55 in its place.
If you hadn’t heard, the HTC Hima Ace was expected to be a sized-up phablet version of the upcoming HTC One M9.
This latest news comes courtesy of prolific leaker @upleaks, who seemed sure that the Hima Ace is being killed off for good.
So what can we expect from the Desire A55? Earlier leaks suggest it will sport a 5.5-inch QHD display.
It will, apparently, eschew the Snapdragon status quo and spring for a MediaTek chip, specifically the MT6795. That’s a 64-bit octa-core chipset.
This is important, because we’ve previously heard that an upcoming HTC smartphone would use a MediaTek chip, lending further credence to this latest rumour.

Reports also point to 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a 20-megapixel rear camera all making an appearance.
It’s also expected to come with a plastic chassis, rather than the more premium-feeling metallic build we’ve grown used to from the HTC M-series.
The handset will reportedly come in three colour variants, namely ‘white rose gold’, ‘grey’, and ‘brown gold’. It will also get its own Dot View case – the same we saw from last year’s HTC One M8.
