Sony has confirmed that its insanely thin X90C television will be coming to the UK this summer.

Mark Whiteman, Sony’s Technical Marketing and Product Planning Manager for Home Entertainment and Sound told TrustedReviews the TV set would land in Blighty in June 2015.

Unfortunately, Whiteman couldn’t confirm pricing, but said we’ll have a definitive mark-up by March 16.

The electronics giant unveiled its svelte TV just last month at this year’s CES tradeshow over in Las Vegas, USA, hailing it as the world’s thinnest television.

Thus the X90C became one of the most talked about products at the convention, sporting a near-invisible 4mm profile.

Sony talked up its record-setting fare as being even thinner than its Xperia Z3 smartphone, which measures up at a comparatively obese 7.3mm.

What’s more, the TV will run at 4K resolution, and will make use of Sony’s new X1 processor, which aims to improve clarity, colour, and contrast.

TrustedReviews saw a demo of the processor at the firm’s Weybridge HQ, and can confirm that there is a noticeable difference in detail clarity, particularly in the background of shots with significant depth of field.

It’s also worth noting that the slim-line TV will run off the Android TV operating system, which means you’ll be able to Google Cast mobile content, use voice search, and enjoy built-in YouView.

Other perks of the X90C include ‘edge-coating technology’ to reduce bezel size significantly, as well as a wall mount that lets the TV sit very close to flush with the wall.
