Microsoft Lumia 535 now available in UK

Microsoft is now selling its mid-range Lumia 535 smartphone at electronics retailers across the UK.

The smartphone makes use of a 5-inch display, running at a relatively unsinpiring 960 x 540 resolution.

Handling the phone’s processing is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chip clocked to 1.2GHz.

That’s juiced up by a 1905mAh battery, which should be plenty considering the low-spec for the screen.

Snapping potential comes courtesy of two 5-megapixel sensors, one on the rear and front respectively.

The main rear camera touts LED flash, while the front-facing camera offers wide-angle selfie shooting.

There’s 8GB of built-in storage, plus a microSD slot good for a 128GB capacity boost. Microsoft also offers 15GB of free cloud storage via its OneDrive platform.

Perks of the blower include Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim OS, free global HERE Maps and HERE Drive+, and a screen that boasts ‘sunlight readability’.

Simon Rayne, Acting GM of Microsoft Devices UK, said: “Many people, especially the younger tech-involved audiences, aspire to own the latest flagship samrtphone, but often don’t have the means to get it.”

“With access to the best services right out of the box, including the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update, Lumia Denim, Lumia 535 helps people do more of what they want, for less.”

The handset is currently available from Amazon, Tesco, O2, Carphone Warehouse, and Virgin, plus a host of independent retailers.

Colour options for the smartphone include green, orange, white, dark grey, cyan, and black, and is retailing on Amazon at prices ranging between £85 and £120.
