PS4 and all its box buddies
Sony has released a PS4 unboxing video ahead of the console’s release date later this month.
Prior to the November PS4 release dates, Sony has issued an unboxing video to show gamers exactly what they’ll be getting with their next-gen console purchase.
Unlike the rather casual one-to-one unboxing Microsoft issued for the Xbox One with Major Nelson (aka Larry Hyrb), Sony has opted to do a much more serious unboxing for the PS4.
A leather-gloved man unpacks the PS4 and all its various box contents in a rather futuristic-looking location.
He reveals that for a limited time, new PS4 owners will receive a free 30-day subscription to PS Plus, along with a PS4 Quick Start Guide.
You’ll also get a PS4 DualShock 4 controller, a neatly bound HDMI cable and AC Power Cord (without the huge Xbox One power brick).
There’s also the official Mono Headset, which you’ll need as Sony confirmed the PS4 will have limited current-gen and Bluetooth headset compatibility at launch.
Sony has also included the USB cable needed to charge the DualShock 4 controller, as with the PS3 and the DualShock 3.
Finally, the mysterious leather-gloved man lifts the 500GB PS4 console from the box and holds it aloft in a single spotlight – in a rather Lion King-like fashion in our opinion.
PlayStation boss, Shuhei Yosihda, appears at the end, but only says the new PS4 tagline: “Greatness Awaits”.
The Xbox One comes with one Wireless Controller, a 4K capable HDMI cable, Chat Headset, Play & Charge Kit, Kinect motion gaming peripheral and the 500GB Xbox One console itself.
The PS4 retails at £349 and will be available from November 29 in the UK. The Xbox One is £80 dearer at £429 and will launch on November 22.
