A new BlackBerry C-series handset has leaked online, with the bare-bones BB10 handset expected to run a wallet-friendly budget price tag.
With no new BlackBerry smartphones having been introduced for a number of months given the company’s current financial woes and structural shakeup, the leaked BlackBerry C-series images have appeared in the tutorial pages of the latest BB OS rollout.
With the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 tackling the high-end areas of the smartphone market, and the somewhat disappointing BlackBerry Q5 priced as a mid-range offering, BlackBerry C-series devices have long been rumoured as a way of bringing the BlackBerry 10 OS to the masses.
Shown as a squat, plastic device, the currently unconfirmed BlackBerry C-series device has been pictured from a range of views, with SD storage expansion and a removable back panel shown off.
Although no exact dimensions for the device have been given, the C-series handset looks to be on the stubby side, with the handset looking likely to be similar in size or smaller than the boxy Q5.
With the BlackBerry C-series handset not shown from the front, it is currently unclear if the budget phone will sport a full touch interface or BlackBerry’s trademark physical QWERTY keyboard. As always though, we will keep you posted on any future developments.
Back in September BlackBerry suggested it would be moving away from consumer handsets until it had successfully restructured and slowed its rapid decline in the smartphone stakes.
“"Going forward, we plan to refocus our offering on our end-to-end solution of hardware, software and services for enterprises and the productive, professional end user,” an official spokesperson for the Canadian manufacturer said at the time.
