Apple has launched an update for iOS 7, as well as a new version of iBooks that brings it in line with the company's new design philosophy.
It appears as if iOS 7.0.4 is a fairly minor update. Apple lists the one key fix as "a fix for an issue that causes FaceTime calls to fail for some people," alongside the usual "bug fixes and improvements."
iOS 7.0.4 is available to download now, and it’s a 37.8MB download.
That’s not all from Apple either. The company has also finally updated its iBooks app, which has stood out like a sore thumb ever since the initial iOS 7 update hit iPhones and iPads back in September.
It was one of only a couple of Apple apps that didn’t get a make-over in keeping with its new surroundings. Now that’s been rectified.
The new iBooks loses the somewhat naff bookshelf motif that was a trademark of Apple’s pre-iOS 7 design work. Instead we have a flatter, sharper and less busy design. We also get a new orange logo.
Browsing through books is not a dissimilar experience to browsing through magazines in the latest Newsstand app.
iTunes U has also been updated. The educational literature app has a similar look to the new iBooks app, and it too has a new orange logo.
Both iTunes U and iBooks are available to update now on the UK App Store.
