Honor has just revealed it won’t be bringing the Honor 6 Plus to the UK because of a lack of demand for phablets on the continent.
The Huawei spin-off firm has snubbed the European phablet market entirely, instead opting to launch its new device in Asia exclusively.
A spokesperson for the company, speaking to Fonearena , said: “Honor is driven by its consumers, the digital natives and, in Asia, the customer demand for phablets is very high so we have developed the Honor 6 Plus to this need.”
“However we don’t employ a ‘one size fits all’ approach to our products and, in Europe where there is currently less demand for phablets, our focus at the moment continues to be on meeting audience needs with the high quality Honor 6 and Honor 3C devices.”
This means that while the Honor 6 and Honor 3C are good to go on UK soil, we won’t be seeing the sized up version any time soon.
It’s a shame, because phablets have seen a popularity boost in recent times, largely thanks to premium devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
The idea that there’s a lack of demand for phablets in the west isn’t completely farcical however, as the iPhone 6 has been widely tipped to have grossly outsold its larger iPhone 6 Plus sibling.

Honor announced its Honor 6 Plus handset only yesterday, with the new device boasting a 5.5-inch IPS 1080p display, an octa-core Kirin 925 chip built by Huawei, and 3GB of RAM.
Also on board is 32GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot that proffers a potential 128GB capacity boost, a beefy 3600mAh battery, and Android OS skinned with EMUI 3.0.
