Asus ZenWatch

The Asus ZenWatch release date has been announced, and you’re not going to have to wait too much longer to get your hands on the Android Wear timepiece.

Having been unveiled back in September, Asus has now confirmed that the Moto 360 and Samsung Gear S rival will hit the UK next Tuesday, December 23.

Giving wannabe owners just two days to snap up the devices ahead of the Christmas period, the ZenWatch will be exclusively available through Currys and PC World’s online stores.

For those tempted by the first Android Wear watch to be skinned with a custom UI – the Asus ZenUI to be precise – the techy timepiece will set you back £199.99.

Although the ZenWatch doesn’t feature a round display like those that have grabbed the LG G Watch R plaudits, the wearable benefits from a premium metal body and high-end leather strap.

As well as featuring some traditional watch styling, the ZenWatch benefits from the usual array of Android Wear functions.

Allowing users to receive message and call notifications direct to their wrist, the smartphone-synced device also offers integrated fitness tracking, navigation tools and Google Now search options.

Although the Asus ZenWatch is only just making it to UK shores, the device has been readily available in other markets for some time.

Having originally been bestowed on the Japanese market, the device launched in the US early last month.
