The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Android Wear devices could land as soon as Wednesday, according to reports on Tuesday.

A Phandroid source claims Google will finally unleash the new version of the software for devices like the LG G Watch R and Moto 360.

The update is tipped to bring new watch faces, complete with weather icons, and the opportunity for wearer to switch them up using the companion app.

It is also thought to offer the ability to recall bring back dismissed cards and the opportunity to monitor battery life and storage through the Android Wear app.

Phandroid also reckons there’ll be new brightness toggles (such as regular, theatre mode and sunlight mode) and the ability for OK Google to “reorder actions based on previous activity.”

The site also reckons another update coming shortly thereafter (dubbed Android 5.0.1) could help solve some of the battery life for some of the Android Wear watches.

Google has previous for releasing updates on Wednesday, so we’ll keep you posted on this one.

Perhaps the Android 5.0 boost will offer a timely boost ahead of the busy holiday period? Are you looking at snapping up an Android Wear watch for a loved one? Or will it be a better option this time next year.
