Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge may not be on the cards after all

Hopes of a quirky Samsung Galaxy S6 spin-off with a curved screen appear to have taken a dent.

Last week an internet report suggested that next year's Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship was being developed alongside a more outlandish variant with a curved display. A Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, if you will.

Now, however, SamMobile is backtracking on its previous assertion. Fresh information from one of the website's insiders suggests that no Galaxy S6 Edge is being planned after all.

Apparently, there is still a Galaxy S6 variant in the works, but it won't have a special curved display like this year's Samsung Galaxy Note Edge oddity. Or rather, current prototypes for that variant don't presently have a curved display as part of the package.

This could mean that a curved display will be introduced later down the line, or it could mean that this S6 variant will have a different angle entirely.

Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S6 could be something pretty special in itself. Rumours suggest that this "Project Zero" could have an all-new metallic design, as Samsung effectively starts from scratch on the smartphone range that made its name.

Elsewhere, it's claimed that the Galaxy S6 will have a Quad HD display, a 64-bit Exynos or Snapdragon 810 CPU, and a 20-megapixel camera.
