The Nexus 6 is the focus of yet more rumour and speculation, with latest reports suggesting the handset will boast a 5.2-inch QHD display.
Contradicting reports yesterday that the handset will be bestowed with a Full HD display, newly leaked benchmarks have pointed to a 5.2-inch QHD screen making the cut. Such an inclusion would see the handset go head-to-head with the likes of the LG G3.
Teased by leaked GFXBenchmark results (below), it has been suggested that the Nexus 6’s 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD panel will line up alongside a bevy of high-end components, including 3GB of RAM and a 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor.
If accurate, this would see the Google branded handset outstrip the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 for power. With the much mooted iPhone 6 expected to land within a similar window to the Nexus 6, the smartphone race could be about to heat up.
Set to be the launch device for the recently announced Android L operating system, the Nexus 6 has been pegged for an October unveiling. Despite LG having pieced together both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 handset, it is believed Motorola will take over manufacturing duties for the Nexus 6.
According to the latest leaks, the handset’s specs sheet will be further bolstered by Qualcomm Adreno 420 graphics, a 12-megapixel primary camera with 4K video capture capabilities, and a 2-megapixel forward-facing snapper.
Although the handset is set to brag 32GB of internal storage, the benchmarks have shown that just 24GB of this will be available to users.
Despite pointing to integrated NFC, an inbuilt pedometer and barometer, it does not appear likely that the Nexus 6 will follow the iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy Alpha in packing a fingerprint scanner.
