Acer Chromebook 13 launched with Nvidia Tegra K1 processor

The Acer Chromebook 13 has been officially announced as the first Chromebook to be powered by the Nvidia Tegra K1 processor.

Marking another first for Acer, the Chromebook 13 is also the first of its kind to feature a 13.3-inch display and it packs a choice of screen resolutions too.

“The Acer Chromebook 13 is an ideal device for families who need a new or additional computer to share for school projects, research, entertainment and fun online,” said John Miedema, Director of Product Marketing at Acer Europe. “The display is large and vibrant, so everything from homework to video is incredibly crisp and detailed.”

“Plus up to 13 hours of battery means families can use the device all day for work or school and not have to recharge it for night-time activities like homework and watching movies.”

Acer Chromebook 13 Features

The Acer Chromebook 13 features a 13.3-inch display with a choice of a 1366 x 768p or full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution.

It runs on the powerful 2.5GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with a 192-core GPU and claims to offer a whopping 13 hour battery-life with the HD version or a still impressive 11-hour battery life for the full HD version.

Apparently, the Chromebook 13 boots up in under 9 seconds or will wake from sleep “nearly instantly”.

You’ll get two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI and a 720p HD webcam all packed into the 1.7cm thick and 1.5kg light body. There are also two built-in stereo speakers and a microphone too.

In terms of connectivity, you’ll get 802.11ac Wi-Fi compatibility with 2x2 MIMO antenna to ensure reliable connections.

Also, you’ll get 2GB of memory and a 16GB SSD hard drive for storing your apps and files. Of course, the majority of stuff you’ll store in the Google cloud services.
