The Dropbox-owned Mailbox email client, which helps users reach ‘Inbox zero’ has started rolling out to the first batch of lucky Mac OS X users who signed up for the beta trial.
The company behind the wildly-successful iPhone, iPad and Android app, vowed to launch a desktop version for Mac users in April this year, inviting users to sign up for the beta.
Now the beta is available to download for all Mac users running Mavericks and later, but anyone who wants to take it for a spin must have received a ‘betacoin’ via email in order to activate Mailbox.
Folks who had previously signed up for early access are being given priority, along with a selected group of users already rocking the app on their iOS and Android devices.
The Mailbox app has been a revelation for users seeking to reduce inbox clutter. The app allows users to easily archive emails with a quick swipe right, delete them with a longer swipe right. Swiping left will allow users to send emails away to watch lists, or to be recalled at a later date.
The idea is to reduce the inbox to an OCD-assisting zero emails.
The new Mac client brings a couple of new features including support for draft emails and the ability to “snooze” emails on the mobile device or the computer and have them reappear on the other device. Users will need to be signed into Dropbox to use those features as they use cloud syncing and storage.
