A QHD S5 spinoff could launch this June, reports claim

A Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime release date has been teased, with the QHD display hosting Galaxy S5 spin-off tipped to launch in June.

Despite the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 having only hit retailers earlier this month, a range of S5 Prime rumours have been doing the rounds in recent weeks, claiming the Korean manufacturer is already set to improve on its latest flagship phone.

Now, citing unnamed “industry sources,” Korean news outlet Asia Today has suggested that a Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime release date will be held “around June.”

Although offering few new details on the upcoming handset, the latest reports have backed up claims that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will play host to a QHD display with a stunning 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.

The standard Galaxy S5 is leading the current smartphone push but features ‘just’ a 5.1-inch, 1080p Full HD display.

With the LG G3 being heavily tipped to launch this summer with its own QHD display in tow, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime looks set to be Samsung’s response and a device which will see the two Korean giants duke it in a head-to-head battle.

As well as a jump in quality, the S5 Prime’s screen looks set to be larger, with a 5.2-inch panel mooted for inclusion.

Further Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime specs tipped to feature include a Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 805 processor with an Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM and , potentially, a premium metal build to rival the HTC One M8.
