The rumoured Google Nexus 6 will be the next high-profile phone to boast an integrated fingerprint scanner, latest reports have suggested.
In a case of where Apple leads others will follow, inbuilt fingerprint sensors have started popping up on flagship Android handsets ever since the Cupertino-based company introduced the TouchID home button incorporating iPhone 5S.
Now, joining the HTC One Max and Samsung Galaxy S5 it has been suggested that the Google Nexus 6 will add its own biometric security measure.
Citing an unnamed “trusted insider” Android Geeks has claimed the Nexus 5 follow-on will sport a fingerprint sensor alongside a potential 5.2-inch QHD display.
What’s more, according to a number of recent reports, the Nexus 6 will see Google rekindle its ongoing partnership with LG, with the core Android phone to be heavily based on the as yet unconfirmed LG G3 – a phone which itself has been tipped to add a fingerprint reader.
Although we suggest these claims be taken somewhat lightly given their less than official origins, it does seem that fingerprint sensors are becoming the next must-have buzzword feature of the smartphone race.
At present little else is known on the Nexus 6’s specs sheet. However, if the phone is based on the G3, reports hint we can expect the 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD display to be partnered with a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel primary camera.
