A new Apple MacBook Air 2014 range has been released, with the refreshed laptop playing host to a speedier processor.
A low key launch, the 2014 MacBook Air features only marginal improvements, with the computer’s CPU jumping from a 1.3GHz offering to a new 1.4GHz Core i5 Haswell chipset.
With the change affecting the full MacBook Air range, from the entry level 128GB storage capacity 11-inch model to the top of the line 256GB 13-inch offering, the new processing units can be Turbo Boosted up to 2.7GHz – up from the 2.6GHz capabilities of the 2013 range.
Aside from the revised processors, the 2014 MacBook Air line’s only other change is a step from Intel 4000 to Intel 5000 graphics. The full line still runs 4GB of RAM and features the same, sleek, brushed aluminium body.
What’s more, despite the slight specs bump, the 2014 MacBook Air range has not been subjected to a price hike. Prices start from £749, moving up through the range to £999.
Although the revised specs will give the MacBook Air some added grunt, recent reports had pegged the lightweight Apple laptop to play host to a beefier range of improvements.
It has been suggested that a Retina display would filter down into the MacBook Air line, although some reports have hinted the company could have a more comprehensive refreshed planned for later in the year.
The new 2014 MacBook Air collection is available to buy right now through Apple’s online and high street stores as well as through third party retailers.
