Some design tweaks for the LG G3
A new LG G3 picture has emerged online, revealing that LG may have revamped the rear volume rocker on the 2014 flagship.
This is one of the first times we’ve actually got a look at the upcoming LG G3 in the flesh, rather than render or other drawings and it looks like LG has tweaked the design features.
The rear volume rocker from the LG G2 is here to stay it seems, but the G3’s iteration is far more rounded and minimalistic than that featured on its predecessor.
It also looks like the camera housing has been tweaked a bit too, surrounded by metal rather than a black exterior.
In line with the leaked LG G3 cases that emerged earlier this month, you can clearly see that the LG G3 has an additional sensor on the left hand side of the rear camera.
We expected this to be an extra LED flash, but from the looks of this image we can see that this isn’t the case.
What this sensor is we can only speculate, but it could potentially be a heart rate monitor similar to that featured in the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, those usually work in tandem with the flash, so it is difficult to guess.
Of course, it could well be an IR blaster, turning the LG G3 into a secondary remote for your TV and other compatible devices.
The notes written on the paper behind the LG G3 mention optical image stabilisation plus, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There could also be a 16GB version available.
Rumour has it that the LG G3 will come with a 16-megapixel rear camera, a quad-core 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor and a 3000mAh battery.
It is also expected to offer microSD card support, run the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and potentially feature IP67 water and dust certification like the Sony Xperia Z2.
The LG G3 launch is expected to happen in July, earlier than the usual flagship release cycle laid down by LG.
