Alleged iPhone 6 renders for case manufacturers have emerged online, suggesting the 2014 flagship will be just 6mm thick.
Images of what claim be renders aimed at accessory manufacturers have appear online and seem to be based on the iPhone 6 schematics that emerged earlier this month.
They show the full metal backplates of the iPhone 6 and one of them provides the dimensions of the upcoming iPhone flagship, complete with a listing for a thickness of just 6mm.
This would mark the iPhone 6 as one of the thinnest smartphones on the market, beating the 6.2mm Huawei Ascend P6 and 6.5mm Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
The current flagship measures up at 7.6mm thick, so Apple seems to have somehow shaved 1.6mm from the already skinny iPhone 5S.
Rumour has it that the iPhone 6 will launch with a 4.7-inch display that utilises quantum dot technology like the Amazon Kindle HDX 8.9 to improve screen quality and colour reproduction.
This would explain why the iPhone 6 renders suggest the smartphone is 14.2mm taller than the 123.8mm iPhone 5S at 138mm, and 8.4mm wider at 67mm compared to 58.6mm.
Currently the iPhone 5S only has a screen size of 4-inches, so Apple would definitely have to increase the size of the iPhone 6 to accommodate a screen 0.7-inches larger than the present offering.
Such dimensions would make the iPhone 6 a similar size to the Samsung Galaxy S5, albeit a little shorter than its Samsung rival. This suggests that Apple will retain the large top and bottom bezels currently used for the iPhone 6 and the home button (and TouchID fingerprint scanner) is here to stay, despite a few rumours and content to the contrary.
The relocated power button is also visible in these renders, with the hold button moving from the top to the right hand side of the iPhone 6.
Strangely it looks like the iPhone 6 might not feature the TruTone dual LED flash introduced with the iPhone 5S, as the renders show a hole for a single LED flash like the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5 before it.
