The Order: 1886 will be single-player only

The Order: 1886 will be single-player only, lacking any form of competitive multiplayer mode.

Andrea Pessino, co-founder of game developer Ready at Dawn, has confirmed the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 will not offer any kind of multiplayer.

When a curious gamer asked about a “competitive multiplayer mode” for The Order: 1886, Pessino replied saying it would be single-player only.

“No multiplayer, it is a single player, third person action adventure game”, said Pessino on Twitter.

Of course, many gamers looking forward to The Order: 1886 were a little disappointed by the news, with some suggesting that the game’s launch price would be asking a lot for limited content.

One Twitter follower complained that he would have to pay the £49.99 ($60) RRP for around 6-10 hours of gameplay.

“Better to do one thing well than a whole bunch half-assed. We are trying to make a single-player experience you will enjoy”, replied Pessino, without revealing how long The Order: 1886’s story will last.

“If we are going to succeed or not will be up to you to decide”, added Pessino.

The Order: 1886 was originally announced at E3 in June 2013 as a brand new PS4 IP. Set in an alternate history mixing Victorian London with comparatively modern technologies and some mythical creatures, it could well be quite an interesting game come launch.

Gamers will be invited to “discover a unique version of Victorian-Era London where technology and the supernatural collide. Players will weild advanced weapons and gadgets that didn’t exist during that era and the realism of the game experience will make you feel like these elements could have been very plausible during the time.”

Developer Ready at Dawn is responsible for previous titles including God of War: Age of Olympus.

Currently, there is no confirmed release date for The Order: 1886.
