First Samsung Galaxy S5 cases leak with boxy design

An array of claimed Samsung Galaxy S5 cases have appeared online ahead of the phone’s formal unveiling, with the leaks teasing a handset with a rather boxy design.

Having hit the web courtesy of specialist case manufacturer Trident, the speculative Samsung Galaxy S5 cases are already available for order in the UK. Although able to be purchased, we must stress that their ability to fit the S5 when unveiled should be taken lightly.

Available in two designs and a variety of colours, the Trident Samsung Galaxy S5 cases are constructed from a shock-absorbing silicone layer that is encased with a separate layer of hardened polycarbonate.

While the Trident Aegis is a standard case, the reportedly Samsung Galaxy S5 compatible Trident Kraken adds an inbuilt kickstand. With both offerings available in black, blue, red and green hues, the two models will set wannabe owners back £24.99 and £34.99 respectively.

Although it is unlikely that Trident has received any official Samsung Galaxy S5 dimensions from the Korean manufacturer, the case maker has hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S4 follow-on will boast a large display within a slightly squat, boxy body. The cases show no rear cut out for a fingerprint scanner as some S5 rumours have hinted could be inbound.

Earlier this week Samsung teased that the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will be held on February 24, issuing invites to a press conference it has dubbed “Unpacked 5.”

Recent Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours have hinted that the phone will see a 5.2-inch 2K display partnered with a new quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 16-megapixel primary camera and Google’s latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
