The new Sky Now TV beta app for Android is the first step at broadening the service’s device compatibility.
Sky has finally released a new Now TV App for Android devices, adding wider compatibility and access to Entertainment Pass.
Although the second-generation app is currently only in beta, it is compatible with a wider range of Android smartphones and tablets than ever before.
According to Sky’s list of compatible devices, the only ones that the new Now TV beta app won’t work on is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphones.
“This new app is initially being released as a Beta app. This is due to a bug outside of Now TV’s control with the Android native players on certain devices, which potentially can cause video freezes”, reads the beta app’s description. “We are working closely with device manufacturers and Google to resolve this.”
The Now TV beta app offers access to the Sky Movies Pass, Entertainment Month pass, and the Sky Sports Day Pass. You’ll also have access to the Now TV on demand catalogue, 10 live entertainment channels including Sky Atlantic and Sky 1 and other content.
All you’ll need is a device running Android 4.0 Jelly Bean or higher, with a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a screen resolution of 480 x 800p or above.
The Now TV beta app is available to download from the Google Play store and is not an update to the original app, so you’ll need to download the beta separately.
The original app is still available to download as well, until the new version comes out of beta.
