Eve Valkyrie will be an exclusive Oculus Rift launch title

Developer CCP and virtual reality company Oculus have announced Eve Valkyrie will be an exclusive Oculus Rift launch title.

Not only will Eve Valkyrie be an Oculus Rift exclusive from launch, but it will also be co-published by Oculus as part of a new publishing company.

Although we don’t officially know when the Oculus Rift will launch, at least we know what one of the launch games will be.

Eve Valkyrie is a spin-off from the massively popular Eve Online MMO, which has already spawned the PS3 Dust 514 spin-off.

The announcement will hardly be a surprise for some gamers, as the title has yet to be shown on anything other than the Oculus Rift, including the new Crystal Cove prototype.

“We strongly believe the best VR experiences are going to be the ones built from the ground up for VR, and we’ve kept that in mind whilst developing Valkyrie,” said a CCP developer team statement.

“We wanted people to really feel like they were there – to sense the vastness of space, feel the confined area of the cockpit and get that adrenaline rush as you see an exploding fighter whizz past your head.”

Eve Valkyrie actually started out as a tiny side project at CCP, but will now be “one of the first AAA games designed exclusively for the Rift.”

“In a very short amount of time this passion project became a fully-fledged CCP project which we’re now working on in Newcastle. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come in a year.”
