The HTC One Max has been officially unveiled following months of rumour and speculation, with the 5.9-inch Android behemoth confirmed as hosting an integrated fingerprint scanner.
Taking biometric pointers from the recently launched iPhone 5S, the Sense 5.5 introducing HTC One Max follows the original HTC One and sub-sized HTC One Mini in completing the Taiwanese manufacturer’s array of brushed metal, flagship smartphone offerings.
“The addition of the HTC One max means that we now have an HTC One phone for everyone,” Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation said of the new unveiling.
He added: “The family has been built on quality and game-changing innovations and the HTC One max is certainly no exception. The upgrade to HTC Sense 5.5 will provide our most amazing mobile experience yet, with the HTC One max delivering the size and power required to do everything you want, and more, without compromise.”

Lining up as something of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rival, the HTC One Max packs an oversized 5.9-inch display into its 10.29 mm thick, 217g in weight brushed metal body. Offering impressive visual, the phone’s display boasts a 1080p Full HD resolution.
While a number of leading smartphones are now lining up with a Snapdragon 800 CPU in tow, the HTC One Max has scaled the power back, running a still speedy 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. Further HTC One Max specs include 2GB of RAM and the option of 16GB or 32GB of storage space. Unlike its One branded siblings, the HTC One Max offers microSD expansion under a removable rear panel.
Powered by Google’s latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, the HTC One Max introduces a new iteration of the company’s much loved user interface Sense 5.5. Offering a more personal BlinkFeed experience than ever before, Sense 5.5 adds the likes of Instagram and Google Plus to the homepage feed.
Sporting the same 4-Ultrapixel rear-mounted camera as both the One and the One Mini, the HTC One Max features list is further enhanced by a 2.1-megapixel forward-facing snapper, the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G and NFC connectivity options and an oversized 3300mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
Unlike the home button integrated option on the latest iPhone, the HTC One Max’s fingerprint scanner sits on the rear of the phone. Offering more secure, biometric based passcode protection, the integrated fingerprint reader also lets users unlock their phone into one of three favourite apps – each assigned to a different finger.
HTC One Max Release Date and Price
Although the HTC One Max is now official, the Taiwanese manufacturer is still remaining tight-lipped on some key details. With a precise HTC One Max release date still to be confirmed, the company has revealed only that the phone will bring a global rollout later this month.
Leaving wannabe owners left to guess, a finalised HTC One Max price is also still to be announced.
